Hi, I am Banjo. I am a friendly and gentle rescue dog looking to be adopted by a special family who will give me time to settle in and who have the patience to see me finally blossom into the dog I really am. I was rescued from a killing station some years ago and made great progress at the shelter from being a very fearful dog to still being shy around people, but opening up when being allowed to run around a little with my best friend and shelter mate. I am still fearful of touch and getting close to people, but when I am given the time to approach them myself and go as close as I dare in that moment, my tail starts wagging and I like to be part of the pack. Having a doggy friend in my family who will act as a role model and who will give me security will definitely help.
I am happy when I meet the caretakers and volunteers at the shelter and I know they will share a moment of joy and love. I will also show lots of love to my family, but to be honest with you it will take me a long time to get to know my new home and build trust. That’s why I am looking for a home with no expectations, where it is possible for me to be part of a family, enjoying their presence and being given all the time in the world to go at my pace. If you are looking for a companion like me, please don’t hesitate to take the first step.
