Hello, my name is Carolina and I am a sweet, loving girl of almost 3 years old. My caregivers say that I’m a real sweetheart who will definitely steal your heart.
I spent the first few years of my life in an overcrowded pound, until I was rescued about 12 months ago.
I am proud to say that I have already made big steps since that day. Not only can I now walk well on a lead, I also learned to trust the volunteers at the shelter. Not an easy thing to do if you have been deprived of friendly interaction with humans at a young age. I now run up to the volunteers to take treats out of their hands and I will let them give me a bum or ear scratch.
I’m still a bit shy around people I don’t know and scared in new situations, but if you give me time, I know I will blossom and become your best friend.
Healthwise I also had some bad luck. I was bitten by a sandfly and got leishmania for which I received treatment for and is now dormant and under control. Leishmania is controllable and NOT life shortening if monitored correctly, I do need to take inexpensive medication every day of my life to make sure that the disease stays dormant and under control. My rescuers are very knowledgeable on this leishmania disease which is not transmittable and they tell me not to worry at all because with blood tests twice a year to monitor treatment, I will live a long and happy life!
I would love to find a loving home. That special place where my human friends will love me unconditionally and I can give love back. And if there is already living a doggy friend, that would make it even more perfect.
Am I going to find that special forever home with you?
