Hi, I am Darren and I think I can say that I am quite an independent dog, who loves the freedom to run around and explore the surroundings. I’ve learned a lot since I came to the shelter from a place where the living conditions weren’t the best and where I didn’t have a chance to live a proper doggie life. I have started to have trust in people and I experienced what it means to go on a playdate with other dogs. I very much enjoy the friendship of a best buddy with whom I can explore the world. The volunteers at the shelter have taught me to walk nicely on a lead and I am always up for a delicious treat. I may not be a cuddle champion yet, but I am sure that with time I will learn to appreciate the feeling of friendship and warmth I can get from people. I am still on my journey to more confidence and trust and I hope that we can walk the untrodden path together as loyal companions and friends.

There is one more thing I would like to share with you. I was bitten by a sandfly and got Leishmania for which I received treatment and it is now dormant and under control. Leishmania is controllable and non transmittable. It is not life shortening if monitored correctly via blood tests. I do need to take inexpensive medication to make sure that the disease stays dormant and under control. My rescuers are very knowledgeable on this and can guide my family through.
